JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION:  Medical Assistant II

 

REPORTS TO:  Nurse Practitioner Clinical Manager

 

LOCATION:  Primary responsibility is to staff mobile medical unit.  Adagio Health Mobile Unit Service Region is Armstrong, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Venango, and Warren counties.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  1. Acts as receptionist for mobile unit, providing excellent customer service.
  2. Provides pre-examination education and counseling as trained and in accordance with medical standards.
  3. Provides post examination counseling, fee collection, and/or reinforce counseling in accordance with medical standards.
  4. Provides specialized counseling/education as needed.
  5. Collaborates with clinician and coordinates referrals to other health and social services in the community.
  6. Performs tasks that are necessary at the mobile unit level to support third party billing and accounts receivable.             
  7. Maintains clinical inventory, equipment and mobile unit facility.
  8. Answering phone, greeting patients, scheduling appointments and organizing patient flow.
  9. Maintains patient charts and other filing systems both electronically and on paper.
  10. Perform clinic procedures and laboratory tests according to policy and procedure. Assist clinician with procedures as necessary. Document accurate information into patients' medical records.
  11. Properly prepare lab specimens for pickup by courier or for shipping.
  12. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and all patient-related data, in compliance with HIPAA and Title X regulations.
  13. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  14. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
  15. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
  16. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
  17. Give injections, perform phlebotomy and finger sticks.       
  18. Follow all Adagio Health policies and procedures.
  19. Maintain clean, neat, and tidy interior of mobile medical service unit.
  20. Communicating issues and suggesting resolutions appropriately to management.
  21. Regional travel is expected.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program and be a Certified Medical Assistant.  Ability to travel.  Current PA Child Abuse Clearance, State Police and FBI Clearances.
