Job Description

POSITION: Power Up Nutritionist (Full-Time)

REPORTS TO: Power Up -Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiates, assigns, and leads hands-on nutrition education to all Tracks in the Power Up program.
  • Works in coordination with the Supervisor for the management of day-to-day operations of the Power Up Nutrition Education Program.
  • Completes reports and documentation as required by the SNAP-Ed grant.
  • Ensures nutrition education delivery is following AND standards, program guidance, and USDA guidelines.
  • Works in coordination with Supervisor to ensure effective communication.
  • Develops interactive nutrition education materials for the Power Up program.
  • Ensures preparation and distribution of all nutrition education and other program materials is completed in a timely manner.
  • Works with Tracks staff in all program events.
  • Works in coordination with Supervisor to monitor quality assurance parameters for SNAP and the office.
  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of future partners, seeks opportunities for PSE activities to build healthy communities.
  • Provides high quality customer service and marketing interventions and coordinates these activities with other Adagio Health initiatives as appropriate
  • Works with other Power Up offices to share ideas monthly for the common goal.
  • Works as a lead team member with the local Tracks staff planning, coordinating, scheduling, and maintaining contact information.
  • Works in any Nutrition Services program as needed.
  • Assists Supervisor to plan, purchase and execute healthy food tastings using proper food safety techniques.
  • Trains teachers and site staff on integration of nutrition education into their classrooms and educational spaces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work with the public, education professionals, teachers, principals, and the low-income population.
  • Ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet the program goals.
  • Willingness to participate in meetings and trainings in order to continually develop skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Packs and delivers all educational materials to sites on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work afterschool/weekend programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Series.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BS degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or BS in a related field and 2+ years of program experience. Must pass PA criminal background check, FBI clearances, and child abuse clearances. Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to: develop, provide and evaluate nutrition education programming. Experience in children's nutrition education in a school setting and in public health are desirable. Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable car. Travel is required on a regular basis.
